YESHUA IN THE TALMUD

Why should a Christian be reading the Jewish teachings of today known as the Talmud?
Most Christians fail at reaching Jews with the Gospel of Yeshua because a Jew believes that the Christian is interpreting Scripture incorrectly. Most Jews will refer to the Talmud for interpretation of Scripture and nothing else. However as the Talmud has an enormous amount of teaching, most Jews are not familiar with much of it. The parts of the Talmud which refer to Yeshua are not taught by Rabbis as this would lead to many Jews accepting Yeshua as Messiah. Rabbis today are teaching contrary to these Talmudic passages, some out of ignorance and some not.

A Jew can be convinced very quickly when he reads the true Jewish teachings concerning Messiah. A person does not need to know Hebrew as there is today an English translation of the Talmud published by Artscroll in the U.S.A. However these volumes are very expensive in countries with weak currencies. Therefore I have supplied the English translations below. A person will however grow stronger in the things of God if he learns some Hebrew from Jewish sources.

A SIMPLE INTRODUCTION TO THE TALMUD
The first part of the Talmud is the Mishna which was written C.E.200 by Yehuda The Prince in Israel. It consists of six parts and includes the notes of Rabbi Achiva.
In C.E.300 a Gemara was written by Rabbi Yochanan and combined with the Mishna became known as the Jerusalem Talmud.
In C.E.400 a Gemara was written by Rabbi Ravina and Rabbi Ashi in Babylon. This Gemara is the popular one of today and combined with the Mishna is known as the Babylonian Talmud.

MIDRASH
The Midrash is a form of Mishna and is a collection of stories. It was written C.E.200.

KABBALA
The Jewish Kabbala, also known as “Jewish Mysticism”, was written C.E.200 by students of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochei. This publication was called the Zohar.
Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochei said, “One righteous person is enough to save the world”. Well we know that there is no one righteous except God and Messiah is the Son of God according to Flavius Josephus’s writings which could not be changed by Rabbis as was Judaism after the crucifixion of Yeshua HaMashiach because the Talmud was not in written form. [The Complete Works Of Josephus p.638]
Kabbala teaches the Trinity of God and the mediation of the Second Person of the Godhead.

All the above writings (also known as the Oral Torah) existed as Jewish traditions and customs before the coming of Messiah but they were not written down until C.E.200.

REFERENCES OF YESHUA IN THE TALMUD

YOMA 39B1
During the forty years prior to the destruction of the Second Temple, – the lot inscribed “for Hashem” did not come up in the Kohen Gadol’s right hand, – nor did the tongue of red wool whiten – nor did the western lamp of the Temple Menorah remain lit and the doors of the sanctuary would open on their own,

This is the exact period from the start of Yeshua’s ministry. Interesting? Before the ministry of Yeshua the lot inscribed “for Hashem” would divinely come up in the Kohen Gadol’s (high priest’s) right hand.

PSALM 90:4

SUCCAH 52A
1 The land will eulogise each family by itself; the family of the house of David by itself and their wives by themselves. 2 They said: - “Now, is this matter not a basis for a vachomer?”
4 . ..then now, at the Water-Drawing Celebration, when they are occupied in rejoicing, which naturally leads to frivolousness, - and the evil inclination has not yet been eradicated and has power over them, - certainly it is necessary to see to it that the sexes do not mingle with each other.
5 . ..One said that the eulogy will be for the Messiah descended from the tribe of Joseph who will have been killed...
...that is why the mourning will be so bitter, as it is written: They will look toward me, the one they have stabbed; they will mourn over him as one mourns over an only [child] etc. The death of God’s anointed is certainly cause for great grief.

ZECHARIAH 9:9

SANHEDRIN Chapter 11 90A7 4 - However, the following are the ones who do not have a share in the World to Come: 5 One who says that there is no reference to the Resurrection of the Dead in the Torah, 6 - or that the Torah is not from heaven, 7 or an apikoros. 8 R’Akiva says: - Also one who reads external books, … 11 Abba Shaul says: - Also one who pronounces the Name of God according to its letters.

SANHEDRIN 97A1
The Jewish Talmud describes the 7 year period before Messiah the Son of David comes. In the first year it rains on one town but not another. In the second year arrows of famine are sent forth. In the third year there is great famine. In the fourth year there is sufficiency but not complete sufficiency. In the fifth year there is great sufficiency.
A2 Wisdom of scholars will decay. Truth will be absent.
97A3 33 The Gemara resumes its discussion about the pre-Messianic era: …generation when the Son of David will come…young people will shame the old, old people will rise before the young;…

Matthew 10:21 …and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. The above Jewish Talmud teaching was taught during the first century B.C.E. before Yeshua said it during His ministry. Interesting? Yeshua was obviously teaching Jewish Talmud! First century Jews had been prepared with these teachings already.

97A4 39 the entire kingdom will convert to heresy, 40 and there will be no rebuke
If a Jew does not believe you that he is following error, let him see that his own Jewish Talmud predicted that he would follow error.
97A4 52 …for six thousand years the world will exist, …and for one thousand years 53 it will be destroyed, as it is stated: Hashem alone will be exalted on that day 54 …For two thousand years it will be destroyed, After two days He will revive us: on the third day He will raise us up and we will live in His presence.
97A5 61 The academy of Eliyahu 62 taught the following Baraisa: The world is destined to exist for six thousand years: - The first two thousand years were of nothingness; 63 the second two thousand years were of Torah; 64 the third two thousand years should have been the days of the Messiah,
97B1 17 And the Holy One, Blessed is He, will not renew His world until after seven thousand years.
Interesting that people who received Messiah had this two thousand years of Messiah and according to the New Testament this era will end soon in agreement with the Jewish Talmud and the Jews who rejected Yeshua, never received what Judaism promised them.

28 ...May the very essence of those who calculate “Ends” suffer agony! - 29 For they say: “Since the date of the End that we calculated has arrived and [the Messiah] did not come, -he will never come!”
97B5
56 R’Eliezer said to [R’Yehoshua]: - but is it not already stated: - in response and calm shall you be redeemed? 57 R’Yehoshua said to [R’Eliezer]: But is it not already stated: thus says Hashem - the redeemer of Israel, His holy one - to one who is despised by men, abhorred by nations, and who is a slave of rulers:

98A4 45 Another contradiction posed by R’Alexandri said: R’Yehoshua ben Levi noted a contradiction: - On the one hand it is written: And behold! With the clouds of Heaven, one like a man came, 46 which implies that the Messiah will come swiftly. - But on the other hand it is written: a humble man, riding on a donkey,
Here is confusion between rabbis as they think that there is only one coming of Messiah and not two so it appears to be a contradiction. Someone needs to tell them that Yeshua already fulfilled one, coming on a donkey.

SANHEDRIN 98B
39 Indeed, it was our diseases that he bore and our pains that he endured, whereas we considered him plagued, smitted by God and afflicted.

In discussing the name of Messiah, Isaiah 53:4 is quoted describing the rejection and crucifixion of Yeshua by religious Jews however if one asked a Rabbi today about Isaiah 53 he would say it is not about Messiah and he would deny the fact that Messiah must suffer when He first comes.

SANHEDRIN 99A
1 “when will the Messiah come?” R’ Abahu answered him: “When darkness covers the people!” - The heretic then exclaimed to [R’ Abahu]: - “You are cursing me!”
4 The Gemara has just concluded its extended discussion of the Messiah and the Messianic Era, a discussion engendered by the Mishnah’s having listed a person who denies resurrection as the first case of one who has no portion in the World to Come.
